Opera Colorado Announces Family Day
By Francisco SalazarOpera Colorado has announced a “Family Day” on March 21, 2026.
The company said that it will welcome the community to experience the art of opera and the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in a whole new way during Family Day at Opera Colorado, a day-long open house designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and connection for visitors of all ages.
The day will include behind the scenes experiences and two abridged performances perfect for families and first-time audiences: “The Pirates of Penzance” at 10:30 a.m. and “Romeo & Juliet” at 2:00 p.m., performed by Opera Colorado’s Artists in Residence.
Between performances, the opera house will transform into an interactive playground of music and discovery where families will be able to meet the cast, step onstage for hands-on activities and artist show-and-tell. They will also be able to explore costumes and props in a petting zoo, and enjoy creative lobby experiences.
In a statement, Dennis Robinson, Jr., Director of Programs & Partnerships at Opera Colorado said, “Family Day is about opening the doors wide and saying, come in. It’s a chance to explore, to play, and to experience the magic of live performance together. Whether you’re discovering opera for the very first time, introducing it to your children, or returning as a lifelong fan, this is a space built for community. Step inside, ignite your imagination, and share in the joy, wonder, and connection that only experiencing live performance as a community can create.”
