Opera Colorado has announced the 2024-25 Artists in Residents.
The company said that this year’s artists will be soprano Hallie Schmidt, mezzo-soprano Melanie Dubil, tenor Daniel Miller, baritone Alex Granito, bass-baritone Oliver Poveda Zavala, and bass James Eder.
The program provides singers with training, coaching, and myriad performance opportunities at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and in schools, community centers, and other venues across the state.
The artists will also take on select mainstage roles for Opera Colorado and are the featured performers in the annual student matinee.
The group’s first public performance, the Artist in Residence Showcase, takes place on Sept. 20 at the Studio Loft at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
In a statement, Cherity Koepke, Director of the Artist in Residence Program and Director of Education & Community Engagement, “Our belief is that the true way to gain experience is by doing, and for an artist, experience is essential as you build your career. That’s the reason Opera Colorado’s program is focused on providing performance opportunities for our Artists in Residence. Along with ongoing training, feedback, and professional development, our artists enhance and expand their performance skills, sharing their talents with communities of all ages.”
