
Opera Carolina’s Stefano Vignati to Lead Chinese Tour of ‘Turandot’
By David SalazarOpera Carolina announced that Stefano Vignati, the company’s Music Director and Principal Conductor, has been selected to conduct performances of “Turandot” as part of the global Puccini Centennial celebrations in China.
Puccini’s final opera will be presented starting from Dec. 30, 2025 to Jan. 1, 2026 at Xiamen Banlam Grand Theatre, followed by performances at the Wuhan Qintai Grand Theatre on Jan. 7 and 8. The tour ends with Jan. 10 and 11 at the Chongqing Grand Theatre.
The international initiative commemorates the 100th anniversary of the death of Giacomo Puccini (1924) and runs from 2024 through 2026.
The production is presented through a collaboration between the Puccini Festival of Torre del Lago and the We Opera Company. The staging features sets by Ezio Frigerio and costumes by Franca Squarciapino. The international cast includes Misha Sheshaberidze, Anastasya Boldireva, and additional singers from Italy, supported by orchestra and chorus.
