Opera Canada Publications Names New Editorial Director

By David Salazar

Opera Canada Publications has named Michael Jones to the position of new Editorial Director. He commences his tenure on July 1, 2024.

He takes over for Elizabeth Bowman who served as Editor-in-Chief for two years.

Prior to joining Opera Canada Publications, Jones has worked with such organizations as Metcalf Foundation, The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, and Arraymusic.

“I am delighted that Michael is joining Opera Canada at a critical point in its 64-year history. The publishing industry is undergoing tremendous change and no magazine can continue to operate in a traditional fashion. We believe that Michael has the necessary skills and experience to steer Opera Canada magazine and its expanding website in new directions to ensure its continued success,” said Eva Innes, chair of the Board of Directions of Opera Canada Publications, in an official press release.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Opera Canada at this point in their history,” Jones added. “I have a history with both the magazine and the art form, and I believe both in honouring the strength of its legacy and in the enormous potential of the magazine to transform as a resource for the next generation of opera lovers.
