Opera Birmingham’s General Director Steps Down

Alabama’s Opera Birmingham has announced that Keith A. Wolfe-Hughes is stepping down from the position of General Director.

He headed the company for nine seasons with numerous milestones, most notably the world premiere of “Touch” in January 2024. This was the first commissioned opera in the company’s 69-year history.

“We are grateful to Keith A. Wolfe-Hughes for his leadership and dedication to Opera Birmingham,” the company said in an official press release. “His contributions have laid a strong foundation for our future growth and success. As we embark on this new chapter, Opera Birmingham’s talented and dedicated staff, along with the Board of Directors, remain steadfast in their commitment to present exciting opera productions while continuing to enrich the cultural landscape of our community. We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to sharing more unforgettable performances and innovative programs with our audience.”
