Opera Baltimore & OperaDelaware to Co-Present ‘La Traviata’

On March 24, 2023, Opera Baltimore will present Verdi’s “La Traviata” at Towson University’s Stephens Hall.

The work comes as a co-production between Opera Baltimore and OperaDelaware and part of an ongoing collaboration between the two companies. Soprano Lindsay Ohse stars as Violetta, with tenor Matthew Vickers as Alfredo, baritone Benjamin Taylor as Germont; the cast also includes Melanie Ashkar as Flora, Daniel Sampson as Gastone de Leorieres, Ben Lowe as Barone Douphol, Rachel DiBlasio as Annina, Jeffrey Gates as Machese d’Obigny, and Mark Hightower as Dottore Grenvil.

Directed by Kaley Karis Smith, “La Traviata” will also see Maestro Domenico Boyagian of Cleveland Opera Theater conduct the OperaDelaware Orchestra for performances at Stephens Hall as well as at The Grand in Wilmington, Delaware.

“This will be a gorgeous traditional production filled with stellar performances crafted to touch the hearts of our audiences,” said Opera Baltimore General and Artistic Director, Julia Cooke in an official press statement. “We are thrilled to bring this production to the greater Baltimore community.”
