Opera Australia to Peform ‘Dido & Aeneas’

Opera Australia is set to present Henry Purcell’s “Dido & Aeneas.”
The production is Opera Queensland’s production directed by Yaron Lifschitz, Artistic Director of the widely acclaimed acrobatic troupe Circa.
The production showcases the winning formula of his highly praised “Orpheus & Eurydice,” merging Circa’s physicality and Opera Australia’s musicianship in a contemporary operatic retelling of the ancient Greek myth.
Artistic Director of Pinchgut Opera, Erin Helyard, will share the podium with British Maestro Chad Kelly to conduct the acclaimed OA Orchestra while Australian stars mezzo-soprano Anna Dowsley sings the role of Dido while tenor Nicholas Jones will play Aeneas.
The cast will be rounded out by Jane Ede, Sian Sharp, Kanen Breen, and the OA Chorus.
“Orpheus & Eurydice” will be performed at the Joan Sutherland Theatre, Sydney Opera House between March 13 and 29, 2025.
