Opera Australia Announces ‘La Traviata’ Cast

By David Salazar

Opera Australia has announced the cast to its upcoming production of Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

The opera will be led by soprano Stacey Alleaume in her role debut as Violetta. The soprano noted, “It brings me great joy to be singing this most treasured role. Violetta’s story is one of great emotion, sacrifice, and unconditional love but it is also heartbreakingly tragic. Performing in a harbor production is always special and I am so excited to step onto that stage for ‘La Traviata.'”

The soprano will alternate with Jessica Nuccio, who has performed the role of Violetta all over the world.

The two sopranos will be joined by tenors Ramé Lahaj and Paul O’Neill sharing the role of Alfredo, while Germont will be alternated by Michael Honeyman and José Carbó. Brian Castles-Onion will lead the Opera Australia Orchestra.

The work is set to be performed on March 27 through April 26, 2020.
