Opera Australia has announced soprano and award-winning cabaret star Ali McGregor and comedian and TV presenter Adam Hills as the host this year’s New Year’s Eve Opera Gala in the Concert Hall at the Sydney Opera House.

The Opera Gala will be a wild journey through the world of opera with a distinctly Australian flavor, right in the heart of Sydney’s world-famous New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The cast will feature tenor Diego Torre, sopranos Julie-Lea Goodwin and Sophie Salvesani, and baritone Luke Gabbedy. They will be joined onstage by the Opera Australia Orchestra and conducted by Opera Australia’s Head of Music Tahu Matheson.

McGregor is a singer and producer, who started her career as a principal soprano with Opera Australia while Hills is one of Australia’s best-known comedians.
