Opera Atlantic to Present ‘Tales for a Starry Night’
By Francisco SalazarOn Nov. 22, Oper Atlantic will perform “Tales for a Starry Night.”
The production will feature scenes from beloved operas, including “Carmen,” “Rigoletto,” “Le Nozze di Figaro,” “The Ballad of Baby Doe,” “Romeo et Juliette,” and more. The
production is set to tell the story of a cold and windy winter evening when a group of disgruntled orphans gather together in their bedchamber to hear bedtime tales from the matron of their orphanage. As the night progresses, no single story seems to satisfy all the children, and the matron flips from story to story (scene to scene), as the children discard pieces of their threadbare pajamas for masks and cloaks to reveal themselves as the characters in the tales they suggest she tell.
The evening will see local artists directed by award-winning director Liz Kiger.
This production will be produced in partnership with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Montclair New Jersey, and a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Toni’s Kitchen.
