Opera America has announced its 2025 National Opera Trustee winners.

This year’s winners include Jeffrey Cunard of Washington National Opera, Janet Farrell of IN Series, Erin Flannery of Experiments in Opera, Liz Kathman Grubow of Cincinnati Opera, and Mel Weingart of OPERA San Antonio.

The award honors those who have displayed exemplary leadership and service on behalf of their organization. Each year, every opera company is invited to nominate one board member for recognition. Nominees are then evaluated based on their contributions to their respective organization’s success, board effectiveness, and community impact, among other criteria.

“I am honored and humbled to receive this award.  It has been my great privilege to unite my years of experience working with nonprofits with my passion for the arts to help lead IN Series great board and staff as it grows and develops Artistic Director Timothy Nelson’s vision,” said Farrell, per an official press statement issued by IN Series.

The trustees will be awarded on March 20, 2026 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.
