Oper Wuppertal has announced that it will extend General Music Director Patrick Hahn’s contract through 2026.

The Austrian conductor took over the position during the 2021-22 season.

Hahn is also the principal guest conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra, becoming the first person to earn that title in the orchestra’s history. He is also the principal guest conductor and artistic advisor of the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra; his tenure will end at the close of the 2022-23 season.

Among his career highlights are performances with the Orchestra of the Hungarian State Opera (where he made his profesional debut as a conductor in 2014), the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa.

In addition to his work as a conductor, Hahn is a pianist who has performed with such organizations as Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Vienna Musikverein, and Hamburg State Opera.
