Maestro Andrea Sanguineti is set to conduct the Gewandhaus Orchestra in the premiere of Giacomo Rossini’s opera “La Cenerentola” at Oper Leipzig on Dec. 10, 2021.

The performance will be recorded due to the pandemic and will be available to stream from the Leipzig Opera between Dec. 25 and 27, 2021 as of 3:00 pm and between Dec. 31, 2021 and Jan. 2, 2022, as of 3:00 pm.

The theater closed on Nov. 22 due to new COVID-19 regulations and recently extended its closure until Jan. 9 due to a rise in cases in Germany.

“We have always known that a worsening corona situation requires further measures and are now taking these into account. The focus of all our considerations is primarily the safety and care for our audience and for all employees,” said the Intendant and General Music Director of the Oper Leipzig Ulf Schirmer.
