Oper Graz in Austria has announced a cast change for its semi-staged “Tosca”

The performance, which is set to be performed at the Kasematten Graz, will see Ludovic Tézier perform the role of Scarpia replacing Bryn Terfel.

Tézier is well-known for his Scarpia and sang the role yesterday, August 21 at the Salzburg Festival in a production by Michael Sturminger with Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov. He has also sung the opera at the Deustche Oper Berlin, Salzburg Easter Festival, Paris Opera, and Teatro San Carlo di Napoli.

The baritone joins Kristine Opolais and Jonas Kaufmann with conductor Marcus Merkel leading the Grazer Philharmoniker.

The production will be broadcast on ORF. Terfel is set to return for the August 24 and 25, 2021 performances.
