Oper Frankfurt has announced that it has canceled all performances until at least March 31, 2021.

“The decision of the head of the cultural department of the city of Frankfurt Dr. Ina Hartwig gives the opera house planning security and clarity for the coming months,” says the official statement on the company’s website. “Oper Frankfurt should open at the beginning of April, but the necessary condition for reopening is the epidemiological situation,” added the opera house.

Oper Frankfurt is the latest in a series of German opera houses to shut down until March or April 2021.

Germany has extended its COVID-19 lockdown until at least the end of January 2021. German authorities believe that the lockdown will end when the country has dropped to an incidence of 50 new infections per 100,000 people over the course of seven days. The current national incidence is 155 new infections per 100,000 people.
