Oper Frankfurt Announces Cast Change for ‘Carmen’

Oper Frankfurt has announced a cast change for its upcoming production of “Carmen.”

The company noted that Adriana Gonzalez will take over the role of Micaëla, replacing Angela Vallone. 

Gonzalez won Operalia in 2019 and has performed at the Opera de Toulon, Opernhaus Zurich, Opéra de Lille, Opéra de Dijon and Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid. This season she is set to make her house debut at the Houston Grand Opera in “Romeo et Juliette.”

​Gonzalez will sing under the baton of Simone di Felice and Giedrė Šlekytė in a production by Barrie Kosky. The production will also star Zanda Švēde in the title role, AJ Glueckert, and Kihwan Sim. 

“Carmen” opens on Nov. 12 and is set to be performed until Dec. 31, 2021 for six performances.
