By David Salazar

On Site Opera will celebrate its 10 anniversary with a special gala on Oct. 19, 2022.

The event, which will take place at the Museum of the City of New York, will honor Founding President Emerita Jan A. Gross while also featuring numerous pop-up performances.

Audiences will be invited to walk through three gallery spaces. In the Central Gallery, audiences will get to see costumes, puppets, and props from past productions. Audiences will hear music dating from the 17th century. In the Port City Gallery, there will be performances of selections from “L’Orfeo,” “Le Nozze di Figaro,” and “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.”

Finally, in the Dinary Gallery, there will be music by Mozart, Bolcom, Shubert, and Bach as part of the Food in New York exhibit. Then there will be a dinner at the Marble Court with music from “Murasaki’s Moon,” “Rhoda and the Fossil Hunt,” and “Lesson Plan.”

Among the artists performing in the gala are soprano Chantal Freeman, mezzo-soprano Caitlin McKechney, tenor Michael Kuhn, baritone Jonathan Green, and pianist Candace Chien.
