On Site Opera To Unlease New Technology For Audiences Of ‘Murasaki’s Moon’
By David SalazarOn Site Opera has announced that it will launch a mobile app featuring multilingual supertitles for its upcoming performances.
Per a press release, the app will also feature digital programs so that audiences can learn more about the cast and production that they are watching. Additionally, there will be other multimedia content.
The app, which was developed by InstantEncore, was made possible with a recently-announced OPERA America Innovation Grant that the company earned.
“Using new technology to enhance our audience’s experience has been part of On Site Opera’s mission from our founding. Through the On Site Opera app, audiences will be able to follow along with multilingual subtitles wherever the action takes place,” said Eric Einhorn, General & Artistic Director of On Site Opera, in the press release. “This is a monumental step forward for our immersive production model, and we are thrilled about this partnership with InstantEncore and grateful for the support of OPERA America.”
The app was tested during a production of “Amahl and the Night Visitors” in December 2018 and is set to appear in its full form for “Murasaki’s Moon;” audiences will get a chance to experience the opera with supertitles in both English and Japanese.
