On Site Opera Returns to West Side Community Garden for ‘Opera in the Garden’ Series
By David SalazarThis June, On Site Opera will return to West Side Community Garden for three performances as part of its “Opera in the Garden” series.
First up will be a Juneteenth showcase on June 19 featuring Kenneth Overton as he takes on music by Black composers.
Then on June 26, the company presents Verdi’s “La Traviata.”
Then the series ends on July 10 with “Fairy Tale Opera” on July 10, 2024.
“We are delighted to welcome On Site Opera back to the Garden for another season of exceptional performances,” said Judy Robinson, President of the West Side Community Garden Board of Directors, per an official press release. “These evenings of music add to the vibrancy of our community, and we look forward to hosting these wonderful events.”
“With the garden at peak bloom, we are excited to invite the community back to enjoy these evenings of opera for all ages and welcome summer in New York City,” added Piper Gunnarson, On Site Opera’s General Director and CEO. “This season’s lineup reflects our commitment to diverse storytelling and engaging audiences of all ages and backgrounds.”
