Omer Meir Wellber to Receive ‘Rudi Häussler Prize’ from Semperoper Dresden

The Semperoper Dresden is set to award Omer Meir Wellber with the “Rudi Häussler Prize” as part its “Mozart Days 2022.”

Wellber, who is set to conduct the three Mozart-Da Ponte Operas this season, is the company’s Principal Guest Conductor and will hold that title until the end of the 2021-22 season. The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros.

Wellber will lead a production of “Don Giovanni” on April 15, 2022 with a cast starring Anita Hartig, Tuuli Takala, Anke Voldung, Lawson Anderson, Lucas Meachem, Joel Prieto, Tilmann Rönnebeck, and Erwin Schrott. That will be followed up by “Le Nozze di Figaro” on April 16, 2022 with Peter Mattei, Hila Baggio, Michal Doron, Katharina Flade, Julia Kleiter, Christiane Neumann, Stepanka Pucalkova, Mariya Taniguchi, Simeon Esper, Rupert Grössinger, Omar Montanari, Timothy Oliver, and Erwin Schrott.

Finally, Welber will lead “Così fan tutte” on April 17, 2022 with Heidi Stober, Cecilia Molinari, Katerina von Benningsen, Ioan Hotea, Mario Cassi, and Omar Montanari.
