OMAI Announces 2026 Conference in Bologna

By David Salazar

Opera Managers Association International (OMAI) has announced its 5th Annual Conference in Bologna, Italy.

The event will assemble an exceptional concentration of operatic leadership and artist representation from across Europe and beyond, including general and artistic directors of 13 Italian opera companies. Moreover, there will be a dedicated audition session for selected singers represented by participating agencies. The gathering is expected to bring together approximately 70 percent of Italy’s opera leadership at a single privately organized professional event.

The auditions, held within the framework of the OMAI conference, are designed to foster direct exchange between agencies and opera houses, offering young singers rare access to the country’s principal casting authorities in a concentrated setting.

OMAI was founded in 2020 during the upheaval of the COVID-19 pandemic, initially created in response to the severe administrative and professional challenges faced by opera managers and agencies during the shutdown of international cultural life. Since then, the organization has grown into a professional platform representing the collective interests of opera agents and artist managers internationally.
