Olivier Py Gets Major Role at Théâtre du Châtelet

The Théâtre du Châtelet has announced that Olivier Py will become the new director.

The Chairman of the board announced that after consulting the Board of Directors, Py will take the position as of Feb. 1, 2023.

Py is a theater and opera director, actor, author, and director who was the Director of the Festival d’Avignon from 2013 to 2022 after directing the Théâtre national de l’Odéon from 2007 to 2012.

The dirct has worked with such companies as the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Gran Teatre del Liceu,  Paris Opera, La Monnaie, and Theater an der Wien, among others. He has directed such composer’s works as Wagner Meyerbeer, Mozart, Verdi, Britten, Hindemith, Debussy, and Faure, among others.
