Anna Bolena – Opera de Liege, Belgium
Olga Peretyatko, Marko Mimica, Celso Albelo, and Sofia Soloviy headline a new production of Donizetti’s breakout opera. Giamopaolo Bisanti conducts the production Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera.
Gianni Schicchi- Teatro Carlo Felice, Italy
Federico Longhi takes on the title role in Puccini’s only comedy in a production by Rolando Panerai. Sonia Ganassi, Serena Gamberoni, Matteo Desole, Luigi Roni, and Aldo Orsolini also star in the production with Valerio Galli conducting.
Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk – Opera de paris, France
Dmitry Ulyanov, John Daszak, Aušrinė Stundytė, and Pavel Černoch star in Shostakovitch’s legendary score in a production by Krzysztof Warlikowski. Ingo Metzmacher conducts the production which has stated contains certain scenes that may be inappropriate for the young and the easily offended.
Der Ferne Klang – Oper Frankfurt, Germany
Jennifer Holloway and Ian Koziara headline a new production of Franz Schreker’s 1912 work. The opera is directed by Damiano Michieletto and is conducted by Sebastian Weigle. Iurii Samoilov and Anthony Robin Schneider also star.
El Barbarillo de Lavapies – Teatro de la Zarzuela, Spain
Christina Fus and Borja Quiza star in Barbieri’s beloved zarzuela with José Miguel Pérez-Sierra conducting. The cast also includes Maria Miro and Javier Tome and the production is by
Alfredo Sanzol.
