Odesa Opera to Premiere ‘Kateryna’

The Odesa Opera House is set to stage the premiere of Oleksandr Rodin’s “Kateryna.”

The work is based on the poem of the same name by Taras Shevchenko and will be conducted by Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich.

The production of “Kateryna” will be directed by Oksana Taranenko and will feature set design by Igor Anisenko, choreography by Aleksey Sklyarenko, and video projections by Dmitriy Tsiperdyuk. The new opera will be presented on Sept. 17 & 18, 2022.

The Odesa Opera reopened back on June 17 with a gala concert and has been performing in the midst of the war. The opera house is currently also performing the ballet “Giselle.”
