Obituary: Tenor Maxim Paster Passes at 47

Tenor Maxim Paster has died at age 47 on August 31, 2023.

The announcement was made by TACT Artist Management, who worked with the tenor for 15 years.

“Maxim was more than just an extraordinary talent – he was a cherished member of our TACT Opera family for an unforgettable 15 years,” said the post by TACT Artists Management. “Together, we embarked on a journey filled with breathtaking performances that graced some of the world’s most prestigious stages, such as the Salzburg Festival, Opéra national de Paris Bastille, Bayerische Staatsoper, and the Metropolitan Opera. We will forever cherish the memories of his incredible artistry and the passion he poured into every note. Maxim Paster, you will be fondly remembered, and your legacy will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, dear Maxim.”

The Ukrainian singer performed with such companies as the Metropolitan Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Salzburg Festival, Teatro alla Scala, and Deutsche Oper Berlin, among others.

In recent years, Paster was a fixture at the Bolshoi Theatre where, since 2022, he appeared in productions of “Mazeppa,” “Die Fledermaus,” “Boris Godunov,” “The Story of Kai and Gerda,” “The Tale of the Tsar Saltan, “Lohengrin,” and “Salome.” He was scheduled to perform there in  October in “Mazeppa” and in November in a production of “Salome.” He was also slated to appear at the Bayerische Staatsoper for “Boris Godunov” in January.
