Obituary: Soprano Marina Considera Dies at 46

Soprano Marina Considera has died at the age of 46 following a battle with bowel cancer. The artist died on Ocr. 31, 2023.

Born in England and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Considera obtained her master’s degree in Music from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and her bachelor’s degree in Singing from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro. She also studied at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, in Rome, Italy.

She made her debut in 2002 she made her operatic debut and went on to sing at the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro. She sang such works as “Eugene Onegin,” Don Giovanni,” “Les Contes d’Hoffmann,” “Pagliacci,” “La Boheme,” and “Il Guaranay.”

In a statement, Eric Herrero, artistic director of Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, paid tribute to the artist and said, “Devastated by the passing of Marina Considera, a fantastic artist with whom I had the joy of sharing the TMRJ stage in ‘Onegin’ and Contes de Hoffmann.’ In addition to her enormous artistic qualities, she was a unique human being, a great co-star and production colleague.”
