
Obituary: Semperoper Dresden Tenor Aaron Pegram Dies

The Semperoper Dresden announced the news via social media stating, “It is with great shock and deep sadness that we say goodbye to our ensemble member Aaron Pegram, who passed away completely unexpectedly in Dresden last Sunday.”
Pegram was an ensemble member at the Semperoper Dresden who performed 49 productions and 60 different roles with the company.
Pegram graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Theater from the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma and before singing opera, he performed the role of Quasimodo over 1500 times in the live show of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” at Disney World in Orlando Florida.
He transitioned to opera in 2003 when he vocal a young artists at the Orlando Opera and went on to perform with the company in numerous roles including Alfred in “Die Fledermaus,” Nemorino in “L’elisir d’amore,” Little Bat in “Susannah,” Nanki-Poo in “The Mikado” and Beppe/The Swan in “I Pagliacci/Carmina Burana.”
In 2009-10, the American tenor became a member of the Semperoper Dresden where he became recognized for his “distinctive voice, great stage presence, fine humor and a charm that touched the audience equally as his colleagues.”
Outside of Dresden, Pegram performed at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland, Houston Grand Opera, New York City Opera and the Santa Fe Opera.
