Obituary: Opera Santa Barbara Board Member Daniel Reicker Passes Away
By Francisco SalazarOpera Santa Barbara Board Member Daniel Reicker has died.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Reicker worked for one of Santa Barbara’s top law firms. He became a member of Opera Santa Barbara’s Board of Directors for 25 years, serving as the company’s in-house legal counsel, and as a member of the Finance and Executive Committees.
Reicker was one of the first to offer his enthusiastic support when the company was started and supported the company financially and personally. With his support the company was able to ensure that the company could flourish. Rieker alongside his wife attended nearly every performance.
In a statement Kostis Protopapas, Artistic and General Director said, “Dan Reicker was one of the first Board members I met when I came to Opera SB in 2015. He was wise, patient, and passionate. I slept better at night knowing that he sat on the Finance Committee. He loved opera, and I don’t think he ever missed a production or a party. It’s hard to imagine the company without him.”
