
Obituary: Josephine Nendick Passes Away
By Afton MarkaySoprano Josephine Nendick passed away in Carcassonne on Feb. 13.
Nendick made her career performing primarily in London. She made appearances at Covent Garden, Wigmore Hall, Centre de Musique in Paris, Sadler Wells, Festival Hall, and more. She performed in operas such as “Rigoletto,” “Götterdämmerung,” “Così fan tutte,””Der Rosenkavalier,” and “Doctor Miracle.” Nendick was a member of the Park Lane Opera Group and, for many years, was associated with the Durham Twentieth Century Festival & Summer School.
Nendick is featured on the recording of Jean Barraqué’s “Chant après chant,” along with pianist Noël Lee, and the Copenhagen Percussion Group, and conductor Tamás Vető. “Chant après chant,” was recorded in the presence of the composer in Copenhagen in Dec. 1969.
She was 85 years old.
