Obituary: Italian Conductor Andrea Ceraso Dies at 39

Correction: Andrea Ceraso’s death was not related to COVID-19.

It has been announced that rising Italian conductor Andrea Ceraso has passed away at the age of 39. The cause of death was not made public.

Ceraso was a graduate of the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome, where he studied conducting, piano, as well as composition. From 2008 to 2013, Ceraso served as a conductor for the Fratelli d’Italia youth orchestras before going on to the Rome Youth Orchestra. From 2013 onward, has was the main conductor for the Imago Sonora Ensemble at the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, a contemporary music ensemble, and conducted all four of their world premieres held at the Sala Casella in the summer of 2013.

Ceraso did concerts with international organizations such as the Festival Nuova Consonanza, the Festival Euro Mediterraneo, the Emufest, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
