
Obituary: Dominik Wortig Dies at 52

According to his husband, Boris Leisenheimer, Wortig died in an accident.
Wortig was born in Germany and began musical training at the age of five. He went on to study church music and then voice with Werner Lechte at the Robert Schumann High School in Düsseldorf.
He eventually became a well established tenor who performed at the Semperoper Dresden, Stuttgart Opera, and Teatro alla Scala. He was also an ensemble member of Theater Hagen and the Wuppertal Opera. He sang a wide range of roles throughout his career and also established himself as a recitalist with Xannick Wirner.
Off stage, Wortig was a well known teacher who took a position at the Leopold-Mozart-Zentrum der Universität Augsburg.
