Obituary: Arts Administrator Kyle Ridout Passes at 66

Former opera administrator Kyle Ridout passed away on August 30, 2023. He was 66-years-old.

The news was first announced on social media with his family noting that he “passed peacefully surrounded by his family.” Moreover, the post noted that Ridout passed following an extended hospital stay and due to medical complications.

Born on August 26, 1957 in San Jose, California, he would go on to study music performance at the Indiana University School of Music where he graduated as part of the class of 1985.

In 1985, he would become company manager for Kentucky Opera, holding the position until 1989 when he would then become the General Director for the Nashville Opera. He would hold that position until 1995.

From there, he would become manager at the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center  at Indiana University Southeast from 1995-2013 and also worked with Indiana Presenters Network. Eventually he would become President at DJ&W Farms, Inc in Nashville and take on a role as an Arts Consultant starting in 2012.
