
Nouvel Opéra Fribourg Unveils 2026-27 Slate

Nouvel Opéra Fribourg announces its 2026-27 season.
Sarah Defrise takes to the stage in the one-woman show, “I Hate Music,” which features personal anecdotes with a cappella interpretations of contemporary pieces by Luciano Berio, John Cage, and Cathy Berberian.
Performance Dates: Aug. 15 – Dec. 13, 2026
“Lyrical Brunches” stars young vocal artists from the Haute École de Musique.
Performance Dates: Sept. 28, 2026 – May. 31, 2027
Sol García, Diego Valentín Flores, and Sebastián Rossi perform in a new production of Astor Piazzolla’s “María de Buenos Aires.” Amélie Parias directs and William Sabatier conducts.
Performance Dates: Nov. 25 & 26, 2026
Igor Stravinsky’s “The Rake’s Progress” features Adam Temple Smith, Laurence Guillod, Yannis François, Raiven, Alexandre Diakoff, Gabriel Colin, and Pierre Marat, with the NOF Choir led by Pascal Mayer. Antony McDonald directs. Jordi Bernàcer conducts the Fribourg Chamber Orchestra.
Performance Dates: Dec. 29, 2026 – Jan. 9, 2027
Nouvel Opéra Fribourg partners with the Voix Nouvelles competition. Winners will perform in the final round at the Opéra-Comique in Paris in the fall.
Performance Dates: Jan. 13, 2027
Julia Deit-Ferrand and Sarah Defrise perform in the NOF Festival’s setting of Arnold Schönberg’s “Pierrot Lunaire” alongside the “12 Gedichte” by Max Kowalski. Stéphane Mooser directs the Ensemble Diachronie.
Performance Dates: June 18 – 20, 2027
