Northern Ireland Opera was named the winner of Best Production at the 2022 Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards for “Into The Woods.”

Northern Ireland Opera received this prestigious award for its Feb. 2022 production of Sondheim’s “Into the Woods.” Cameron Menzies’ setting of the musical starred Sean Kearns, Allison Harding, and Kelly Mathieson.

Other nominations for Northern Ireland Opera include Menzies in the Best Director category and Niall McKeever for Best Set.

Ciaran Scullion, the Head of Music and Opera at the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, said in a press release, “This most recent Irish Times Irish Theatre Award adds further artistic adulation of the work of this wonderful company, which is a shining light in the current cultural offering from Northern Ireland.”

The same production is currently running at the West Australian Opera in His Majesty’s Theatre in Perth with an Australian cast.
