By Francisco Salazar

The Northern Ireland Opera has announced the cast to its upcoming “La Bohème” production.

The production will star Noah Stewart as Rodolfo while Gemma Summerfield will take on the role of Mimi. Meanwhile, Emma Morwood will sing Musetta, and Yuriy Yurchuk will sing the role of Marcello. Joining these four principal artists will be one of the country’s finest
basses Graeme Danby.

The opera will be conducted by Rebecca Lang with Cameron Menzies serving as Artistic Director. The set design will be by Claire Morrissey and the costumes will be by Diana Ennis.

In a statement conductor, Rebecca Lang noted, “I love bringing theatre to audiences in unexpected spaces – it gives us all the opportunity to experience pieces in ways other than those which we anticipate or expect. ‘La Bohème’ is the perfect choice for us as artists to be part of the collective emerging from the rubble we have all had to endure.”

The opera will be performed at the iconic Carlisle Memorial Church in Belfast across four evenings. Performances open on Sept. 18 and run through the 25, 2021.
