National Concerts is set to present the “Suffrage Cantata” in a historic performance set for April 9, 2022 at Perelman Stage in Carnegie Hall.

The piece, which will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage Movement, is written by composer Andrea Ramsey and will star soprano and narrator N’Kenge. The event will also include performances by the National Concert Treble Chorus conducted by Sandra Snow. The entire evening will be led by conductor Bruce Rogers.

N’Kenge is a Grammy and Emmy-nominated artist who previously performed at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops Orchestra. She has also appeared with Opera Estate in Italy and performed for President Bill Clinton and President Barack Obama.

“It is a true honor to be able to perform such a powerful piece that puts a spotlight on these iconic women that have changed our American History,” the soprano said in an official statement.

The Cantata was originally set to be presented in 2020 to honor the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, but was postponed due to the spread of COVID-19 and the resulting lockdown.
