Nina Stemme Cancels ‘Turandot’ At The Teatro Real
By Francisco SalazarNina Stemme has canceled her performances of “Turandot” at the Teatro Real.
The Teatro Real announced that due to health reasons, Stemme would not perform the opera, which opens on Nov. 30. As a result, Oksana Dyka and Irene Theorin, who were already scheduled for performances will take over Stemme’s.
The company’s production by Robert Wilson will also star Gregory Kunde and Roberto Aronica as Calaf, and Yolanda Auyanet and Maite Alberola as Liu. Andrea Mastroni sings Timur with Nicola Luisotti conducting.
Stemme is set to return to the stage in January as Tosca at the Wiener Staatsoper and will also perform a new production of Die Frau ohne Schatten’ with the company. She also sings “Elektra” at the Lyric Opera of Chicago and also returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper for “Parsifal” and “Turandot.”
Turandot runs through Dec. 30, 2018.
