Nicole Heaston is set to make her San Francisco Opera debut in “Le Nozze di Figaro,” replacing Jennifer Davis as the Contessa Almaviva.

The San Francisco Opera made the announcement on Friday, noting that Davis had been set to make her American opera debut with the role, but was forced to withdraw from the production due to a lingering virus and persistent cough that “prevented her from participating fully in rehearsals.”

Heaston’s career highlights include performances at the Houston Grand Opera, Theater Basel, Hamburg State Opera, Théâtre Champes-Elysées, Opéra de Lille, Norwegian Opera and Boston Lyric Opera, among others.

She previously took on the role of La Contessa with the Boston Lyric Opera and the Den Norsk Oper.

She joins a production directed by Michael Cavanaugh with a cast that includes bass-baritone Michael Sumuel, soprano Jeanine De Bique, baritone Levente Molnár, and mezzo-soprano Serena Malfi as Cherubino. Henrik Nánási will conduct the production.

Performances are slated for Oct. 11 through Nov. 1, 2019.
