Nicole Chevalier, Aušrinė Stundytė & Bo Skovhus Lead Broadcasts From Theater An Der Wien

The Theater an der Wien has announced a series of broadcasts after high uncertainty over a date of possible reopening due to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis in Austria.

First up is a production of Prokofiev’s “The Fiery Angel.” The opera showcases Aušrinė Stundytė, Bo Skovhus, Natascha Petrinsky, Elena Zaremba, Nikolai Schukoff, Alexey Tikhomirov, Markus Butter, Andrew Owens, and Kristján Jóhannesson. Constantin Trinks conducts the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien in the production by Andrea Breth.

Streaming date: March 27, Radio Ö1, 7:30 p.m. CET

Next up is a production of Jean-Philippe Rameau’s opera “Platée.” The presentation spotlights Marcel Beekman, Jeanine de Bique, Cyril Auvity, Marc Mauillon, Edwin Crossley-Mercer, Emmanuelle de Negri, Emilie Renard, Ilona Revolskaya, and Padraic Rowan. William Christie conducts Les Arts Florissants in the production by Robert Carsen.

Streaming date: April 3, 3Sat, 8:15 p.m. CET

Finally, the opera house will stream a production of Massenet’s “Thaïs.” The opera stars Nicole Chevalier, Josef Wagner, Roberto Saccà, Carolina Lippo, Sofia Vinnik, Günes Gürle, and Samuel Wegleitner. Leo Hussain conducts the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien in the production by Peter Konwitschny.

All performances also feature the Arnold Schoenberg Chor. Erwin Ortner is the Chorus Master.
