Nicole Car, Enea Scala & Patrizia Ciofi To Be Featured In Opéra de Marseille’s 2018-19 Season

The Opéra de Marseille announced its 2018-19 season, featuring eight productions and a number of concert performances.

The season will include a number of revivals and new productions as well as some of the biggest rising stars. Here is a look.

Productions

The season opens with Leo Nucci directing Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” starring Juan Jesús Rodriguez, Riccardo Massi, and Olesya Golovneva. Paolo Arrivabeni conducts the beloved work.

Performance Dates: Oct. 2-9, 2018

Sabine Devieilhe, Anne Sofie Von Otter, Jack Swanson, and Nicolas Rivenq star in a concert performance of Bernstein’s “Candide.”

Performance Dates: Oct. 14, 2018

Karine Deshayes takes on the title role in Rossini’s “La Donna del Lago” with  Varduhi Abrahamyan, Edgardo Rocha, Enea Scala, and Nicola Ulivieri. José Miguel Perez-Sierra conducts concert all concert performances.

Performance Dates: Nov. 10-18, 2018

Nicole Car sings Verdi’s “La Traviata” with Enea Scala and Étienne Dupuis. Nader Abbassi conducts Renée Auphan’s production.

Performance Dates: Dec. 23-Jan. 2, 2019 

Lawrence Foster conducts a new production of Gounod’s “Faust.” Nicole Car stars alongside Jean-Francois Borras and Nicolas Courjal.

Performance Dates: Feb. 10-21, 2019

Patrizia Ciofi, Anne-Catherine Gillet, Josef Wagner, and Mirco Palazzi star in a production of Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro.” Mark Shanahan conducts Vincent Boussard’s new production. 

Performance Dates: March 24-April 3, 2019

Charles Roubaud directs a new production of Puccini’s “Turandot” with Ricarda Merbeth, Ludivine Gombert, and Rudy Park. Roberto Rizzi Brignoli conducts.

Performance Dates: April 27-May 5, 2019

Sabine Devieilhe, Nicola Alaimo, and Enea Scala sing Verdi’s “Rigoletto” with Lawrence Foster conducting.

Performance Dates: June 1-11, 2019

Concert 

The season will also include many singers in concert including Hélène Carpentier, Caroline Jestaedt, Eva Zaicik, Florian Laconi, and Anas Seguin.
