The Opéra National de Paris has announced a cast change for Bellini’s “I Puritani.”

The company revealed that due to health reasons Alexander Tsymbalyuk will not perform in the production. As a result, Nicolas Testé will replace him in the role of Giorgio.

Testé is no stranger to the role of Giorgio as he performed the role at the Teatro Real. He is set to return to the Teatro alla Scala for “Roméo et Juliette” and “Pelléas et Mélisande.”

Testé joins a cast that includes Elsa Dreisig and Javier Camarena and is conducted by Riccardo Frizza.

Tsymbalyuk returns to the stage in October for Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” at the Staatsoper Hamburg and Puccini’s ‘Turandot” at the Bayerische Staatsoper.

“I Puritani” opens on Sept. 7 and runs through Oct. 5, 2019.
