Tenor Nicholas Phan has co-curated “Emerging Voices” with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society. The event kicks off on Jan. 13, 2020 and runs through the 24.

The event features a total of six concerts as well as a number of world premieres by such composers as Nicolas Bacri, Iva Bittová, Nico Muhly, and Errollyn Wallen.

The showcase opens with “New Voices: Paris of the Belle Epoque,” which will feature music by Nadia and Lili Boulanger, Hahn, Bacri, Debussy, and Fauré as performed by Joélle Harvey, Amanda Lynn Bottoms, Nicholas Phan, Roderick Williams, and the Jasper Quartet, among others.

Joélle Harvey, Amanda Lynn Bottoms, Nicholas Phan, and Roderick Williams will present a salon concert featuring music of Stravinsky, de Falla, Tailleferre, Granados, Sanderson, and Ives, among others.

Amanda Lynn Bottoms, Nicholas Phan, and Roderick Williams will headline a concert “Lost Voices: The war to End All Wars” with music by Nadia and Lili Boulanger, Debussy, Wallen, Gurney, and Granados, among others.

Performance Date: Jan. 17, 2020

“Found Voices: The New European Map” will feature music of Bartók, Paderewski, Bittová, and Kodály, among others as performed by Sarah Shafer, Jennifer Johnson Cano, Nicholas Phan, and Douglas Williams.

Performance Date: Jan. 19, 2020

Sarah Shafer, Melody Moore, Nicholas Phan, and Douglas Williams lead a second Salon Concert with music by Villas-Lobos, Clarke, Burleigh, Bernstein, Bowles, and Copland, among others.

Performance Date: Jan. 22, 2020

“Our Voices: The Rise of the American Voice” will feature music of Nadia Boulanger, Thomson, Copland, Carter, Bonds, Léon, and Shaw. There will also be a world premiere by Muhly. Sarah Shafter, Melody Moore, Nicholas Phan, and Douglas Williams will headline the program.
