Nicholas Brownlee, Sydney Mancasola & Nathan Granner Headline LAO At Home

The LA Opera will continue its LAO at Home series on June 15.

Tenor Robert Stahley will perform as part of the Living Room Recital with pianist Jeremy Frank, presenting excerpts from “Die Walküre.” Then Stahley will team up with pianist Brendon Shapiro for Donald Swann’s song cycle “The Road Goes Ever On,” which sets the poetry of J.R.R. Tolkien to music.

Soprano Jamie Chamberlin and tenor Nathan Granner will participate in Opera Family Time performing “greatest hits.”

Streaming Date: June 16 at 2 pm PDT

The Learn at Home series will see bass-baritone Nicholas Brownlee hosting “Il TRIVIAtore,” a  quiz game for opera fans of all stripes. This episode will be the grown-up edition.

Streaming Date: June 17 at 12 pm PDT

The company will begin streaming the “Figaro Trilogy” starting with Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” from a 2015 production. Music Director James Conlon conducts baritone Rodion Pogossov as Figaro, mezzo-soprano Elizabeth DeShong as Rosina, and tenor René Barbera as Count Almaviva. Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” and Corigliano’s “The Ghosts of Versailles” will follow in subsequent weeks.

The week concludes with soprano Sydney Mancasola performing a living room recital. She will be joined by pianist Mario Antonio Marra for a program of arias from “Manon” and “Robert le Diable,” and songs by Reynaldo Hahn, Missy Mazzoli, and Stephen Sondheim.
