The Borletti-Buitoni Trust has announced its 2026 Awards and Fellowships, with two classical singers among this year’s honorees.

Soprano Elisabeth Hetherington has been named a BBT Award recipient, receiving £30,000. The Canadian singer, based in the Netherlands, has built a reputation for her work spanning early and contemporary music.

Irish mezzo-soprano Niamh O’Sullivan was named a BBT Fellow, receiving £20,000. O’Sullivan has performed with such companies as the English National Opera, Detroit Opera, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Prague Philharmonia, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. She was also a BBC New Generation Artist from 2023 to 2025.

The recipients were revealed on March 17, 2026 — the birthday of the Trust’s co-founder, the late Franco Buitoni. The UK-registered charity supports young musicians in the early stages of their professional careers through financial awards and strategic guidance.
