New Zealand Opera Unveils 2024 Slate

New Zealand Opera has unveiled its 2024 season.

First up is “Mansfield Park.”

The opera by Jonathan Dove and Alasdair Middleton will star Ashlyn Tymms, Robert Tucker, Kristin Darragh, Tayla Alexander, Michaela Cadwgan, and Joel Amosa, among others. Rebecca Meltzer directs and David Kelly and Soomin Kim provide the musical accompaniment.

Performance Dates: April 17 & 18 (Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington); April 21 (Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland)

Then comes “Le Comte Ory” starring Manase Latu, Emma Pearson, Hanna Hipp, Moses Mackay, Wade Kernot, Andrea Creighton, and Tayla Alexander. Brad Cohen conducts and Simon Phillips directs.

Performance Dates: May 30 & June 1 (Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland); June 13 & 15 (Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington); June 27 & 29 (Ōtautahi, Christchurch)

A concert version of ‘Tristan und Isolde” will star Simon O’Neill, Manuela Uhi, Katarina Karnéus, Johan Reuter, Albert Dohmen, and Jared Holt.

Performance Dates: August 10 (Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland)

Elijah Moshinsky’s Rigoletto” will conclude the season. James Judd conducts a cast starring James Clayton and Amitai Pati.

Performance Dates: Sept. 19-25 (Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland)
