New Zealand Opera Returns to Live Performances With ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’

New Zealand Opera is set to present Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” starting on June 8, 2021.

The opera will star John Moore as the Count Almaviva with Emma Pearson as the Countess. In the role of Figaro, audiences will see Richard Ollarsaba with Joanna Foote taking on Susanna. Other cast members include Bianca Andrew, Kristin Darragh, Andrew Collins, Andrew Grenon, Imogen Thirlwall, and Joel Amosa.

Zoe Zeniodi conducts a production directed by Lindy Hume. The opera will feature the Freemasons New Zealand Opera Chorus, the Aukland Philharmonic, Orchestra Wellington, and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

The first series of performances between June 8 – 13 will take place in Auckland at the Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre. Between June 23-27, the opera will place at The Opera House in Wellington before heading to the Isaac Theatre Royal in Christchurch for performances on July 8-13.
