New Zealand Opera Cancels ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ Performances due to COVID-19

The New Zealand Opera canceled its run of Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” performances in Wellington due to COVID-19.

In a statement, the company said that the “Government has now announced that there will be an Alert Level change to Level 2 in Wellington from June 22 through at least June 27. It is therefore with huge disappointment that we announce the cancellation of NZ Opera’s Wellington Season including ‘The Marriage of Figaro,’ ‘RED!,’ our fundraiser at the Australian High Commission, and other events associated with the Company.”

“Le Nozze di Figaro” was supposed to be performed in Wellington from June 24 to June 27. The production now moves to Christchurch where it is set to be presented in July. The production opened in Auckland earlier in June to great success.

New Zealand Opera has assured Wellington audiences that ticket holders will be offered a full refund or credit.
