New York Philharmonic to Stream Act One of ‘Die Walküre’

By Francisco Salazar

The New York Philharmonic will be broadcast Act one of Wagner’s “Die Walküre” on April 2 at 7:30pm.

The broadcast, which is set to be shown on Facebook, stars Heidi Melton as Sieglinde, Simon O’Neill as Siegmund, and John Relyea as Hunding with Jaap van Zweden.

The performance comes from the 2017-18 season, a showcase during which OperaWire noted, “Jaap van Zweden & Soloists deliver a sublime rendition of Act One of Wagner’s Masterwork.”

The New York Philharmonic is the latest orchestra to present performances on Facebook following the Seattle Symphony and the Berlin Philharmonic, among others. They are also the latest New York institution to stream following the Metropolitan Opera’s successful daily streaming.

OperaWire will stream the performance on its Facebook account as well.
