The New York City Opera has announced the casts for its upcoming production of “As One.”

The company revealed that the first cast will feature Blythe Gaissert and Michael Kelly, with Briana Elyse Hunter and Jorell Williams comprising the second of the production with American Opera Projects and Kaufman Music Center.

The opera by Laura Kaminsky, Mark Campbell, and Kimberly Reed, will be directed by Matt Gray and will feature a film by Reed. The production will also feature set design by Ron Kadri, costume design by Barney Fitzgerald, and lighting design by Michael Baumgarten.

Since the opera’s 2014 Brooklyn premiere by American Opera Projects, “As One” has become the most produced opera in the U.S. and Canada written in the 21st century. This season’s production will continue the New York City Opera’s Pride Series, following past seasons’ productions of Péter Eötvös’s “Angels in America” and Charles Wuorinen’s “Brokeback Mountain.”

The series will also feature the world premiere of Iain Bell and Mark Campbell’s “Stonewall,” commissioned by New York City Opera, which is producing it in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall uprising.

“As One” is set to open on May 30 and runs through June 8 at the Merkin Hall.
