
New York Choral Society Announces Casting for ‘King David: A Theatrical Choral Event’
By Francisco SalazarThe New York Choral Society has announced the cast for its upcoming performance of “King David: A Theatrical Choral Event.”
The company announced that mezzo-soprano Cierra Byrd, Soprano Emma Marhefka, tenor Maximillian Jansen, and narrator Lee Wilkof will headline the evening.
There will be a special appearance by Angel H. Salgado-Ambert.
Byrd is an alum of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Program while Marhefka is a current member of the Met Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Program and a Grand Finals Winner of the Met’s Laffont Competition. This season, she debuts as Papagena (The Magic Flute) at the Met and Juliet (Romeo and Juliet) with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. Jansen has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, Berkshire Opera Festival, and Albany Symphony.
The performance will be held on Nov. 22, 2025 at the Alice Tully Hall with Alison Porgorelc serving as stage director.
